Saturday!

Well, I ended up with a date with Kendall last night.  Dave had a stomache bug yesterday- seems he had the same “bug” another year of this chorus concert.  Kendall and I met Jill and Meg for dinner at the Cart Barn and then went to the concert, Bruster’s and then home.  We had a great time.  Payton had Bradley to spend the night Mat was at his mom’s and Josh spent the night with Ian.  Dave took Payton and Bradley fishing this morning and of course, they didn’t bring any fish home.  Kendall and I have been hanging around the house and she has been begging to go the the Animal Shelter for a friend for Sammy.  I doubt that will happen, but we do have to go to the mall.  Payton needs some new tennis shoes.  He is so rough on shoes- well anything actually.  Dave works tomorrow and we will head to Memaw’s for lunch and an afternoon of playing with the babies- Daniel and Sawyer.

We added another member to ‘the Barrgang” yesterday.  We sponsored a Compassion International child from Ecuador-that was Josh’s choice.  Her name is Keyla and she is 5.  She is really cute.

I planted 2 snowball bushes the other day that I bought off of ebay.  I sure hope they do well and the deer don’t eat them before they have a chance to grow.  If anybody has any secrets about them, let me know.  We are not the best growers in the world.  The lantana from last year is starting to pop up- the deer don’t eat that.  I hope it will really be pretty.  Our hosta looks beautiful.  The deer love it, but it is behind my fountain, so they don’t come to eat it….YET.

It is Thursday and I am so ready for the weekend.  Friday night we are going to see the LHS Chorus concert.  It is always unbelievable.  I am blown away every year by the talent of the students.  It is amazing how professional they are and how much work they put into it.  I sure hope Kendall still wants to do this when she gets there.  Of course, I couldn’t pay Josh or Matt enough to participate. :0

Saturday we have no plans, but those are the best weekends.  Dave is off :) .  I cannot wait until summer, when we don’t have to get up early or worry about homework before bedtime, or have a bedtime at all.  Of course, after about a month- when I have no food left in the kitchen, no clean dishes, and the house is a total disaster…I will be ready for school to start back.  The worst thing about summer is that this is Dave’s busy time for work.

Going to work everyday, I have to drive by the animal shelter.  I have been seeing this adorable yellow lab sitting at the fence every morning-looks like a puribred.  So, yesterday, Payton and I decided to head over there and check her out.  Personally, I think Sammy (our ~black lab) needs a dog herself.  I thought the guys would simply bring the dog to us to look at.  NO, you have to walk past all the other little sad dogs to get there.  If it were up to me, we would have about 50 dogs in our backyard today.  Anyway, there lab was adorable, there were 2 great white pyrenees, and the cutest great dane you have every seen-looking very sad.  Dave told me if we came home with another dog, he would not be happy.  So, Sammy does not have her own dog…yet. ;)   If anybody know anybody interested in these dogs, go the animal shelter.

Blogging

Our 11th anniversary cruise to Mexico        We decided to start this blog with the idea that our out of town family and friends could keep up with what is going on with the GA Barr’s and just for fun for our local friends.  It will take some trial and error on our part, or help from the kids to keep this up.

So, here is what is going on here.  Josh and Matt are finishing up their first year of high school and all and all have done really well.  They love it.  I am not sure if that is coming from the social side of things or academic.  Hum!  Kendall is finishing up her first year of middle school and she has not loved it so much.  She has her purse stolen the first week, but the year has gotten better.  I think she has adjusted well.  Payton has one more year of elementary school left.  It is hard to believe Hollis Hand will be done with the Barr’s after next year.  That will be 12 years there!  Wow how time flies.

Payton is getting his braces on the week after school- May 28th.  June 6th some of us will head up to LeAnn’s for Eli’s birthday party and then on to the cabin in Gatlinburg for a few days.  Our big vacation come in July when we all 6 are cruising to the Eastern Carribean.  We can’t wait.  We hope some Illinois family will be coming down in between some of that too.

Dave, Chief Ranger, is about to begin his busy time of the season- although, I didn’t know it could get busier than it has been since he has taken on this new position.  He loves his job though.

We stay pretty busy around here and are looking forward to summer, no early bedtimes, no homework and no getting up early.  Yeah!!!  I am sure we will be eager to start school back in August too.

The picture is from our cruise Dave and I took in Jan/Feb to Mexico celebrating our 11th anniversary.
